Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has issued Proclamation 1427, outlining the official list of regular holidays and special non-working days for the year 2027.
According to Philippines News Agency, the proclamation, signed on September 8, includes a comprehensive schedule of ten regular holidays, four special non-working days, one special working day, and four additional special non-working days. The regular holidays for 2027 are as follows: January 1 (Friday) for New Year's Day, March 25 for Maundy Thursday, March 26 for Good Friday, April 9 (Friday) for Araw ng Kagitingan, May 1 (Saturday) for Labor Day, June 12 (Saturday) for Independence Day, August 30 (last Monday of August) for National Heroes Day, November 30 (Tuesday) for Bonifacio Day, December 25 (Saturday) for Christmas Day, and December 30 (Thursday) for Rizal Day.
The special non-working days are set for August 21 (Saturday) in observance of Ninoy Aquino Day, November 1 (Monday) for All Saints' Day, December 8 (Wednesday) for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, and December 31 (Friday) for the Last Day of the Year. Additional special non-working days include February 6 (Saturday) for Chinese New Year, March 27 for Black Saturday, November 2 (Tuesday) for All Souls' Day, and December 24 (Friday) for Christmas Eve.
February 25, 2027 (Thursday) will be a special working day to commemorate the 41st anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution. This event is recognized for initiating political, social, and economic reforms in the Philippines.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is tasked with issuing the implementing guidelines for this proclamation, which is effective immediately. The proclamation also mentions that separate declarations will be made for the Islamic holidays of Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha, once their dates are determined according to the Islamic calendar or astronomical calculations. The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos will recommend these dates to the President.
The proclamation emphasizes the cultural significance of Chinese New Year and Black Saturday, noting their importance to the Filipino community. Furthermore, Republic Act 9256 declares August 21 as a national non-working holiday to honor former Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr., while December 8 is celebrated as a special non-working holiday for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. The additional special non-working days on November 2 and December 24 are intended to strengthen family ties and promote domestic tourism.
