Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday called on the newly-promoted senior officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to exercise fairness and focus on their personal and career growth amid political noise. During the oathtaking of the 50 PNP star-ranked officers at Malaca±an Palace in Manila, Marcos emphasized the greater influence the officers now carry as they hold broader authority in police operations.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos urged the officers to continue improving themselves personally, professionally, and institutionally. He stressed the importance of upholding the law to earn public trust and promote the welfare of the entire police force. Marcos advised the officers to be firm, fair, and decisive while respecting the rights and dignity of every Filipino.

Marcos highlighted the complexity of the current challenges, which include social divides, political noise, and emerging tensions within communities, as well as digital and technological threats that transcend borders and platforms. He warned that political grandstanding and potential conflicts could lead to disorder that might escalate beyond physical spaces.

He reassured the administration's support for PNP personnel, acknowledging their crucial role in national protection. The government plans to continue reforms to enhance police officers' capability and morale, including a three-tranche salary increase and higher daily subsistence allowance starting in 2026. Marcos emphasized the importance of supporting the families of police officers, recognizing their well-being as integral to service. He assured that the administration stands firmly behind the Philippine National Police, acknowledging their role as an immediate and dependable line of protection for the people.
