Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to study the proposed measures on anti-political dynasty and divorce before making a decision, as confirmed by Malaca±ang on Thursday. The bills, which aim to prohibit political dynasties and propose absolute divorce, have been refiled in the 20th Congress.
According to Philippines News Agency, when asked about President Marcos's position on these measures, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized that the President's support would hinge on the specifics of the refiled bills. Castro stated the importance of having detailed information to make an informed decision, highlighting that the provisions could potentially benefit the country.
Regarding the anti-political dynasty bill, Castro remarked on the necessity of balance, reflecting President Marcos's commitment to both the nation and its leaders who wish to serve. She mentioned that President Marcos has yet to establish a clear stance on the divorce bill, as he needs to review its content thoroughly.
The proposal for divorce, according to Castro, requires careful consideration. She noted that the bill might gain support if its provisions are favorable and receive backing from the Church. Castro reiterated the President's desire for measures that would ultimately be advantageous for the public.
Castro further expressed the President's aspiration to enhance the relationship between spouses, encouraging couples to address and resolve their issues for the well-being of their families, particularly their children.
