PBBM to Visit US Soon, Confirms Rubio

Kuala lumpur: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to visit the United States "in a few days," announced US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The announcement was made during the ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers' Meeting and a trilateral meeting involving the US, Philippines, and Japan in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to Philippines News Agency, Rubio highlighted the strong relationship between Japan, the Philippines, and the US, emphasizing cooperation on economic corridors, maritime security, and territorial integrity. He expressed anticipation for hosting the President of the Philippines in Washington, further solidifying the partnership among the nations.

Specific details regarding the date of the visit have not been disclosed. US Embassy acting spokesperson Glenda Wallace confirmed that while the visit is expected to occur soon in Washington, no official dates or agenda have been announced.

President Marcos last visited Washington, DC, in April 2024 for the first US-Philippines-Japan Trilateral Summit. The summit focused on enhancing economic and maritime cooperation among the countries and led to the launch of the Luzon Economic Corridor, aimed at developing key industrial and trade zones in Luzon.
