Alimodian: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday called upon the 326 newly minted officers of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) 'Silang Paglaom' Class of 2026 to work towards rebuilding public trust through increased police visibility and transparency. The call to action was delivered during the PNPA's 47th commencement exercises held at Camp Casta±eda.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos emphasized the importance of strong community engagement as a strategy to bridge the existing gaps between law enforcement and the public. He underscored the necessity for the new graduates to help cleanse the police ranks, ensuring that the misconduct of a few does not tarnish the reputation of the entire force.

President Marcos challenged the graduates to embody the role of 'guardians of peace' and tasked them with transforming the Philippine National Police into an organization that is 'deeply trusted by our citizens.' He encouraged them to become fair problem solvers who enforce the law impartially, urging them to set aside any personal interests in their line of duty.

The President further stressed the need for a 'zero tolerance' policy towards corruption and human rights abuses within the police force. He also called upon both the Philippine National Police and the Department of the Interior and Local Government to maintain prompt and objective investigations into any misconduct by police officers.

Finally, President Marcos reminded the graduates of the importance of upholding integrity as they serve the nation, especially in light of global geopolitical tensions affecting the country. He expressed that public trust and enhanced citizen engagement will grow as long as officers demonstrate integrity and professionalism in their work. The President concluded by noting the honor in wearing a uniform respected and admired by fellow Filipinos.
