Singapore: The state-run Presidential Broadcast Service-Bureau of Broadcast Services (PBS-BBS) has earned an international distinction at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2025 for stepping up with bold initiatives to advance the broadcasting landscape. The PBS-BBS received the government streaming award in a ceremony held at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport on Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the award was received by PBS-BBS acting production division chief Alan Allanigue and research division chief George Arce±o Jr. The global recognition highlights the PBS-BBS' efforts in enhancing its programming and dissemination capabilities, in a bid to effectively deliver the government's activities, policies, and accomplishments to the public.
In his message, PBS-BBS Director General Fernando Amparo Sanga said the government-owned radio network has taken steps to address the challenges that confront radio broadcasting in the digital age. He noted that adapting to digital transformation has enabled the PBS-BBS to be more responsive to the people's needs and serve as a bridge for government services to Filipinos.
Sanga emphasized the shift towards digital platforms, stating, 'Terrestrial radio operations today navigate a landscape rapidly shifting towards digital platforms. To meet this challenge, we have innovated.' He further elaborated on the successful integration of television visuals, radio sound, and print headlines into a unified digital platform, creating a more engaging experience for the PBS-BBS' target audience.
The PBS' flagship AM radio station, Radyo Pilipinas, has a verified Facebook page with over 850,000 followers. According to data from Nielsen Radio Audience Measurement in April 2025, Radyo Pilipinas achieved an 11 percent audience share, closely following dzRH, which held an 11.3 percent audience share.
