Manila: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday marked a new milestone after three women completed the PCG's airborne course and became the agency's first female paratroopers.

According to Philippines News Agency, PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, expressed pride in the achievements of Lt. Junior Grade Deborah Magannon, Seawoman First Honey Beverly Seblos, and Apprentice Seawoman Sahada Sakib. He highlighted their completion of the demanding course with "grit, discipline, and heart," noting that their success serves as a breakthrough for women in uniform and young Filipinas aspiring to serve the nation.

In a related development, the PCG also announced the graduation of three personnel from the highly specialized Aircraft Counter Hijacking Course Class 02-2025 on December 9. The graduates, Lt. Cyril Pearl Castroverde, Lt. Junior Grade Roland Addam Blanza Jr., and PO3 Christopher Lee Bien, are the first in the PCG to pass this tactical program. The course represents the PCG's commitment to enhancing operational readiness against modern threats, including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and other security challenges.

The Aircraft Counter Hijacking Course was conducted by the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEG). During the graduation, Castroverde's team was awarded the title of 'Best Team for the Course.'
