PCG Rescues 14 From Sinking Banca in Bohol Waters

Bohol: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued 14 individuals from a sinking boat in waters between Balicasag Island and Panglao in Bohol province.

According to Philippines News Agency, the rescued individuals were onboard MBCA Ayoshi Kim Rin 8, which was in transit to Panglao on Tuesday when it malfunctioned and stopped moving. This led to damage to the boat as it encountered big waves and strong currents.

A rescue team from the PCG Sub-Station Balicasag was dispatched to assist the passengers and subsequently towed the half-submerged banca towards the coastline of Panglao.

The PCG reported that the rescue team successfully transferred the 12 passengers, one boat captain, and one crew member of the distressed motor banca to MBCA Nika and Niah Naj.

All rescued persons were found in good physical condition and were handed over to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Offices (MENRO) Panglao for further assistance.
