Antique: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued nine fishers after their motor banca sank 19 nautical miles southwest of Nogas Island in Anini-y, Antique on Monday. In a statement on Tuesday, the PCG District Western Visayas (CGDWV) said search and rescue operations were carried out by BRP Kalanggaman (FPB-2404) after receiving a distress call from the fishers aboard the sinking FBCA KIMSYVEL off the coast of Western Visayas.

According to Philippines News Agency, all nine fishermen aboard the distressed motor banca were safely located and rescued by the responding Coast Guard personnel. The rescued fishers were taken to PCG Station Iloilo, where they underwent medical assessment by CGDWV medical personnel. Their vital signs were monitored, necessary first aid was rendered, and all were declared to be in stable condition.

Afterwards, they were reunited with the owner of the sunken motor banca to ensure proper documentation, coordination, and support for any further assistance or recovery efforts. The CGDWV emphasized its commitment to safeguarding lives at sea through continuous patrols, vigilant monitoring, and rapid emergency response. The public is strongly encouraged to immediately report any maritime distress or emergency through official Philippine Coast Guard communication channels.
