PCG Successfully Rescues Two Missing Fishermen Off Bataan Waters

Bataan: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has successfully rescued two missing fishermen in the waters off Orion, Bataan. The rescue operation was carried out on Monday, ensuring the safety of the individuals who had been reported missing since the previous day.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PCG's search and rescue (SAR) operation was led by the PCG Station Bataan (CGS Bataan) and the vessel BRP Boracay (FPB-2401). This effort aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s commitment to maritime safety in Philippine waters. The operation was initiated in response to a report submitted on Sunday regarding the disappearance of two fishermen who were last seen in their motorized banca near Pilar, Bataan.

CGS Bataan Station Commander Michael John Encina stated that the CGS Bataan promptly activated its SAR team and coordinated with the families of the missing fishermen. At around 9:45 a.m. on Monday, the BRP Boracay located the two fishermen clinging to their partially submerged fishing vessel about 4.7 nautical miles northeast by east of Orion, Bataan.

The Coast Guard SAR team executed a safe and efficient rescue, with the fishermen being brought aboard the rescue vessel by 9:50 a.m. They were immediately provided with necessary assistance. The BRP Boracay, a 24-meter fast patrol boat, then proceeded to Port Capinpin in Orion, where the CGS Bataan, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Orion, and the families of the fishermen were waiting.

Upon their arrival at Port Capinpin, the rescued individuals received immediate medical attention. They were subsequently transported to the Rural Health Unit at Barangay Wawa, Orion, for further evaluation and ongoing medical observation.

The successful operation exemplifies the PCG's steadfast dedication, operational readiness, and effective inter-agency coordination in carrying out its responsibilities.
