Manila: Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Jay Ruiz on Tuesday expressed his expectation for a smooth leadership transition in the People's Television Network (PTV) following the appointment of Oscar Orbos as the new head.

According to Philippines News Agency, Orbos' appointment as acting PTV general manager is in progress after Antonio Nebrida Jr., the former head, submitted his courtesy resignation. Ruiz confirmed the acceptance of Nebrida's resignation and announced that Orbos, a former executive secretary, will assume the role of officer-in-charge (OIC) at the state-owned PTV-4 network.

Ruiz assured that the transition process is underway, highlighting his confidence in a seamless leadership change. He previously informed Palace reporters that Orbos would lead PTV temporarily, following allegations from employees against Nebrida, who had been in the position since June 2024.

A Palace memorandum issued by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on February 25 requested that all PCO officials appointed before Ruiz's tenure submit their unqualified courtesy resignations by February 28. The memorandum aimed to provide the new PCO Secretary with autonomy in fulfilling his responsibilities.
