Manila: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday recognized the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) as one of the country's top-performing Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs).
According to Philippines News Agency, PCSO secured its place among the Top 15 GOCC contributors for its significant dividend remittance to the National Government during the 2026 GOCC Day held at Malaca±ang Palace. The recognition ceremony was led by President Marcos and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, Secretary Frederick Go.
In a statement on Friday, Secretary Go praised the GOCCs for their remarkable financial performance and continued contributions to nation-building through increased dividend remittances. He noted that these dividends are crucial for financing the government's priority programs, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other initiatives that enhance the lives of Filipinos.
As one of the leading revenue-generating GOCCs, the PCSO remains committed to its dual mandate of raising funds for charity while supporting the national government through dividend remittances. The agency's gaming operations fund various charitable programs, such as medical assistance, donations of patient transport vehicles, institutional partnerships, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and other services benefiting millions of Filipinos nationwide.
The PCSO's position among the country's top dividend contributors highlights its dedication to sound fiscal management, transparency, and responsible governance, while ensuring its charitable mission remains at the forefront of its operations.
This year, 50 GOCCs collectively achieved a historic PHP147.15 billion in dividend remittances, representing a 29-percent increase from the previous year's collection. Of this total, PHP140 billion has already been remitted to the national government, with the remaining balance expected to be completed before the year's end.
The recognition emphasizes the PCSO's ongoing role not only as the government's principal partner in providing medical and health-related assistance to Filipinos but also as a reliable contributor to the national government's revenue generation efforts, helping fund programs that promote inclusive growth and national development.
The PCSO remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the Filipino people, continuing its mission of bringing hope, compassion, and meaningful assistance to those in need.
