Manila: The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), through the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROC-BDC), has announced that 11 barangays in Tawi-Tawi have been officially declared drug-cleared. According to Philippines News Agency, PDEA-BARMM Regional Director Edgar Jubay made the announcement in a statement, highlighting that the villages from South Ubian and Turtle Islands have been recognized as drug-cleared. Additionally, the committee has upheld the drug-cleared status of three barangays in Cotabato City and Parang, Maguindanao del Norte. Jubay elaborated that the declaration came after a comprehensive final evaluation conducted through a hybrid setup, allowing both in-person and online participation from members and partner agencies. The committee ensured that the barangays met the necessary criteria for validation, declaration, and maintenance of drug-cleared status as set out in the Dangerous Drugs Board Regulat ion No. 4, Series of 2021. The ROC-BDC also issued resolutions regarding 479 barangays certified with No Active Drug Personalities (CNADP), 155 barangays classified as CNADP drug-free, and five barangays with Certified Inventory Drug Personalities. The deliberations involved representatives from the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government, the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, the Ministry of Health, and provincial local government units. Jubay emphasized that being declared drug-cleared is not just a recognition but a continuing responsibility. He stressed the importance of ongoing monitoring, proper documentation, community involvement, and sustained coordination among government agencies.
