PDEA Seizes PHP1.08 Billion in Illegal Drugs During Intensive Operations

Manila: The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized PHP1.08 billion worth of illegal drugs during operations from May 23 to 30. These operations, conducted over a week, underscore the government's commitment to tackling the drug menace in the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PDEA's comprehensive anti-drug campaign included 63 operations, featuring 44 buy-busts, seven marijuana eradication missions, seven search and seizure raids, and five interdiction efforts. These coordinated actions led to the arrest of 91 individuals involved in the drug trade.

The operations were part of PDEA's ongoing efforts under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to intensify the crackdown on illegal drugs. The successful operations resulted in the confiscation of 156,407.80 grams of shabu, 80.94 grams of dried marijuana leaves, 5,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks, and 61,662 marijuana plants.

A significant breakthrough occurred on May 26 when a PDEA raid in Barangay Pampang, Angeles City, Pampanga, uncovered P1 billion worth of shabu. This discovery marks one of the largest drug seizures in recent times.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez stated, "These accomplishments reflect our dedication to integrity, service, and public safety. We will remain vigilant and relentless in our mission to free our communities from the threat of illegal drugs."
