PDLs, jail staff get free flu vax in Cabadbaran City

Medical & Health

At least 27 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from the Cabadbaran City District Jail in Agusan del Norte received free influenza vaccination on Thursday, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) 13 (Caraga) reported.

“The vaccination is part of the continuing health services of the BJMP to ensure the protection of PDLs and their personnel from seasonal illnesses,” the BJMP-13 said in a statement.

Seven personnel of the district jail in Cabadbaran City also received their free shots of the vaccine, the statement added.

The BJMP-13’s Health Services Division organized the vaccination drive under the supervision of Regional Director, Jail Chief Supt. Jolly Taguiam Jr., and Jail Chief Inspector Melba Balmori of the Cabadbaran City District Jail.

Meanwhile, the BJMP-13 also reported the conduct of drug tests on 38 personnel and 36 PDLs in the same district jail on Thursday.

“The test yielded negative results for the presence of illegal drugs among the personnel and PDLs tested,” it said.

It added that the health activities being implemented in the different district jails in the region are in line with the BJMP’s Journey for the Advancement, Innovation and Long-Term Development Plan, or JAIL Plan 2040.

The drug test, it said, is also in support of the campaign of Jail Director Allan Iral to clean the ranks of the BJMP.
