PEZA and BCDA Record Landmark Remittances to Philippine National Government

Manila: The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has reported a significant remittance of PHP1.44 billion to the national government for the fiscal year 2025, marking the third consecutive year of billion-level contributions. This remittance aligns with Republic Act 7656, known as the Dividend Law, which requires government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) to remit at least 50 percent of their annual earnings to the national government.

According to Philippines News Agency, the announcement was made during the annual GOCC Day held in Malaca±ang, attended by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., where a record-high remittance of PHP147.15 billion from 50 agencies was revealed. PEZA Director General Tereso Panga attributed the sustained remittance performance to the confidence of investors, the resilience of economic zones, and the dedication of the PEZA team in overcoming challenges to benefit the Filipino people.

Panga emphasized that the continued remittance success demonstrates the synergy between investment promotion and sound public financial management. He noted that the agency's efforts to attract high-value investments ensure that the benefits of economic growth are shared with the national government and the Filipino populace. As a premier investment promotion agency, PEZA remains committed to facilitating job creation, export expansion, technology transfer, and regional development.

During the same event, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) also made a notable remittance of PHP2.6 billion, placing it among the highest contributors from 15 GOCCs in the 'Billionaires' Club.' BCDA President and CEO Joshua Bingcang highlighted this as evidence of the organization's commitment to responsible governance and fiscal discipline. He stressed that each dividend remitted underscores the value created through strategic investments and sustainable development, aimed at transforming former military lands into economic growth centers.

BCDA subsidiaries also contributed to the remittance totals, with Clark Development Corporation remitting PHP2.597 billion, Clark International Airport Corporation PHP585.71 million, Poro Point Management Corporation PHP16.67 million, and John Hay Management Corporation PHP11.51 million. In addition to dividends, BCDA provided PHP3.09 billion to the Bureau of the Treasury for the Armed Forces of the Philippines' modernization program.
