Manila: The Philippines and Vietnam have committed to enhancing tourism cooperation and improving air connectivity after signing a Tourism Cooperation Program that spans from 2026 to 2029. During a state visit by Vietnamese President To Lam, both nations underscored their dedication to increasing flight frequencies and promoting greater tourism exchanges.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of this agreement as Vietnam emerges as a rapidly growing destination for Filipino travelers. Concurrently, the number of Vietnamese tourists visiting the Philippines has seen a significant uptick. In 2025, nearly half a million Filipino tourists traveled to Vietnam, marking a strong year for bilateral tourism exchanges.

The signing of this agreement coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which will be celebrated this July. Both nations are eager to build on the momentum of growing tourist numbers and strengthen their longstanding diplomatic ties through enhanced connectivity and cooperation in the tourism sector.
