Taipei: Representatives from the Philippines won four medals in the recently concluded WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025.
According to Philippines News Agency, Hannah Krystelle Caintic and James Cavin Sayago each secured a silver medal in the Graphic Design Technology and Electrical Installations skill areas, respectively. Notably, Caintic also received the "Best of Nation" title for achieving the highest points in the national category.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) reported that the combined efforts of Abraham Badar and Roneil Arriesgado earned a bronze medal in Mechatronics. In addition, Agee Docayso was awarded a Medallion for Excellence in Cooking.
The Philippine delegation also included competitors Abraham Badar and Roneil Arriesgado, experts Demetrio Pable Jr., Jovencio Panda, Faith Baldonado, and Mary Kristine Iris Pasion, as well as coaches Eddie Cabaltera, Jotham Briones, and Joshua Lizardo.
TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez highlighted the significance of these achievements, stating, "The achievements of our competitors at WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025 affirm that Filipino workers can compete with the best in the world." He emphasized that these victories reflect the competitors' dedication, discipline, and the robust foundation offered by the country's technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system.
The WorldSkills Asia Taipei event, held from November 27 to 29, gathered 320 competitors from 30 countries. TESDA's involvement in WorldSkills Asia aligns with the Marcos administration's focus on enhancing TVET as a fundamental component of national development and inclusive growth.
