According to Philippines News Agency, World No. 6 Peru defeated the Philippines, 26-28, 25-22, 25-23, 25-20, last Monday, earning a place in the Round of 16 alongside China. This loss has put Alas Pilipinas Girls in a challenging position for advancing to the knockout phase.

In the match against Peru, Nahir Cueva Coaguila was the top scorer with 19 points from 17 attacks and two blocks. Her teammates, Fernanda De Los Angeles Pinto Tellez and Cielo Yamileth Quispe Venegas, contributed 16 and 10 points respectively. On the Philippine side, Sharina Rhyza Lleses led with 18 points, while Caera Celis and Xyz Rayco added 17 and 12 points respectively.

China maintained their top position in Pool B with a 4-0 record after defeating Mexico, while Peru holds the provisional second place with a 3-1 record. Venezuela and the Philippines both currently stand at 2-2, with Venezuela slightly ahead in third place due to their seven points compared to the Philippines' six.

The top four teams from each pool will advance to the Round of 16, making the upcoming match against Venezuela crucial for the Philippines. A convincing victory would propel them to No. 2 in the standings, while even a five-set loss could still see them through. However, a loss in three or four sets, combined with a Mexican victory over Tunisia, would push the Philippines into the classification phase.
