PH Navy Chopper Crash-Lands in Cavite; Crew Safe.

Cavite: The Philippine Navy confirmed that one of its AgustaWestland AW-109 helicopters on a training and maintenance flight crash-landed at Sangley Aerodrome in Cavite. Commander John Percie Alcos stated that the incident occurred around 10:18 a.m. The helicopter was undergoing a "training and maintenance flight" shortly after its scheduled maintenance inspection. According to Philippines News Agency, the aircraft was on a functional maintenance check before being dispatched to the operational area when the mishap occurred. Commander Alcos, in a separate interview, mentioned that the helicopter had five Navy personnel aboard, including a test pilot, a co-pilot, and three maintenance crew members. Among them, four sustained minor cuts and bruises, while one suffered a minor fracture. Emergency response teams, including fire and medical personnel, were immediately deployed to the scene. There were no casualties reported, and all personnel, despite their minor injuries, were conscious and safely transported t o the 15th Strike Wing Hospital for medical evaluation. The Navy operates a fleet of at least four units of the AW-109, which were delivered between 2013 and 2014. A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to ascertain the cause of the crash. In response to the incident, all similar aircraft have been temporarily grounded during the investigation. Commander Alcos assured that the Philippine Navy remains committed to maintaining high standards of operational safety and will utilize the findings to enhance procedures moving forward.
