Bali: The Philippine Navy (PN) announced that its offshore patrol vessel, BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16), participated in the International Fleet Review (IFR) as part of Indonesia's 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise "Komodo" (MNEK). The naval exercise commenced with a ceremony at the Port of Benoa in Bali, which saw the participation of 31 navies from around the world.
According to Philippines News Agency, following the opening ceremony, the PN actively participated in the IFR, which serves as a demonstration of naval capability among the participating nations. The BRP Ramon Alcaraz represented the Philippines, underscoring the country's dedication to regional security, interoperability, and enhancing naval diplomacy with allied and partner nations.
The IFR showcased an array of naval assets, symbolizing the collective determination of the participating countries to safeguard maritime interests. To conclude the day's events, the PN delegation attended a welcome dinner hosted at the Official Residence of the Governor of Bali, His Excellency I Wayan Koster. The event served as an opportunity for senior naval leaders to build camaraderie, engage in high-level discussions, and strengthen international cooperation in maritime security.
The Medical Civic Action Program is scheduled for Monday aboard the KRI dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo-991 (KRI WSH-991), docked at Tanah Ampo Pier, Karangasem District. It is a community service initiative providing health and dental checks, mass circumcisions, blood donations, and minor medical surgeries, as reported by Antara News.
The MNEK also includes an environmental conservation and coastal abrasion prevention program, featuring activities like mangrove tree planting in the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Forest Park Area, the release of turtle hatchlings at Peninsula Beach, Nusa Dua, Bali, and a beach cleanup at Mertasari Sanur Beach. The exercise is set to conclude on February 22.
