MANILA: To assist its retired and unwell members, the Press Photographers of the Philippines (PPP) mounted its first arts and photography exhibit in Makati City. At the launch on Wednesday, PPP President Edwin Bacasmas said the program was aimed to raise funds for former colleagues who are now retired and needing medical intervention. 'Fundraising ito para sa mga kasama namin na retired na saka yung mga nagkakasakit. Siyempre, tumatanda na yung mga photographers, mga member ng press photographers of the Philippines, so ito ay para sa kanila (This is a fundraising for our retired colleague and sick members. Of course some of them have grown old, the members of the Press Photographers of the Philippines, so this is for them),' Bacasmas said. He shared that the initiative stemmed from an incident when one of their members got sick and asked for help. It was then they realized that they had no funds to give when emergencies like this happened. 'The members gave only what they could afford,' he said. He then thought that organizing such an event could raise funds to help members in times of need. PPP has 200 regular and associate members who are photo enthusiasts and those from school papers. Bacasmas is inviting the public to come and visit the exhibit at the Makati Commerce Tower which will run until Sunday, Oct. 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Source: Philippines News Agency
