PH Secures 7 Nominations at World Travel Awards 2025

Manila: The Philippines has once again secured multiple nominations at the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) 2025, as announced by the Department of Tourism (DOT) on Wednesday. The country aims to retain its prominent status among Asia's top travel destinations, rallying public support to bolster its standing at the WTA.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippines is defending its titles with nominations in several key categories: Asia's Leading Beach Destination, Asia's Leading Dive Destination, and Asia's Leading Island Destination. Premier tourist spots in the country have also been recognized, with Boracay nominated as Asia's Leading Luxury Island Destination, Intramuros as Asia's Leading Tourist Attraction, and Cebu as Asia's Leading Wedding Destination. Additionally, the DOT itself has been nominated as Asia's Leading Tourist Board.

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco expressed her pride in a news release, stating, "The sustained and dedicated efforts of the Department of Tourism have once again borne fruit with these nominations from the prestigious World Travel Awards." She emphasized the department's commitment to sustainability and inclusivity, crediting President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for his support and vision to establish the Philippines as a tourism powerhouse in Asia.

Voting for the Philippines in the 32nd edition of the World Travel Awards opened on April 1 and will continue until August 31. Voters must create an account at https://www.worldtravelawards.com/vote to cast their votes for the country in its respective categories.

The Philippines has been holding the title of Asia's Leading Dive Destination since 2019. In the same year, Boracay Island was named Asia's Leading Luxury Island Destination, Intramuros was celebrated as Asia's Leading Tourist Attraction, and Cebu was recognized as Asia's Leading Wedding Destination.

The WTA is a renowned global awards program that acknowledges excellence across all sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. Nominations are determined by industry professionals, and winners are selected through an open voting process involving travel experts and the general public.
