PhilHealth eyes 130 ‘Konsulta’ providers in NorMin

The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) 10 (Northern Mindanao) is targeting an expansion of 130 “Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama” (Konsulta) facilities in the region next year.

In an interview Friday, Delio Aceron II, PhilHealth-10 vice president, said the 2023 target expansion is more than double this year’s goal of 64 facilities.

“This was a bit delayed due to the pandemic, but now we will proceed with the expansion of the program, going to the barangays, with the help of local government units,” Aceron said.

The Konsulta program is an outpatient health care system where PhilHealth members can avail of free diagnostic clinic services to accredited facilities.

Aceron said Konsulta-accredited facilities can be from government-run or private health care providers.

“As long as the providers meet the requirements, like the needs of facilities and equipment, then the accreditation process will be fast – in less than a month,” he said.

As of October 3, Dr. Francis Ramos, PhilHealth-10 focal person, said 8,176 program members are registered in the region.

The region has 40 accredited facilities, and PhilHealth-10 has so far received 63 letters of interest from government and private health care providers to become Konsulta centers.
