Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has initiated a full alert status to ensure a peaceful, fair, and orderly conduct of the May 12 mid-term elections. The alert was activated yesterday and will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. local time on May 15. According to Nam News Network, PNP Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized the commitment of the police force to maintaining peace and order during the election period. "There is no place for violence or intimidation in a democratic process," General Marbil stated, underscoring the importance of a secure environment for voters and candidates alike. The mid-term elections are a significant event for the nation, with nearly 70 million Filipinos set to elect over 18,000 officials. These include 12 senators, 254 district representatives, 63 party-list representatives, and over 17,000 governors, mayors, and local officials.
