Philippines to Host Under-18 Men’s Softball Asia Cup as 2027 World Cup Qualifier

Clark:The Philippines is preparing to host the Under-18 Men's Softball Asia Cup in Clark, Pampanga from December 1 to 7. This event will serve as a qualifying tournament for the 2027 WBSC World Cup.

According to Philippines News Agency, the tournament is a result of the efforts by the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asa-Phil) to enhance grassroots programs and develop athletes, providing young Filipinos with more opportunities for international competition.

Jean Henri Lhuillier, Asa-Phil president, emphasized the significance of hosting the event during a press conference at the PJL Corporate Center in Makati City. He noted that it offers a chance for Filipino athletes to compete on home soil, inspires the next generation, and showcases the Philippines as a capable host for international sports events.

The tournament is expected to draw athletes, coaches, officials, families, and supporters from across Asia, promoting sports tourism and highlighting Clark's ability to host international competitions.

Asa-Phil has been working on creating competitive opportunities nationwide through initiatives like its annual National Championship. This year, the association is further expanding these efforts by organizing regional tournaments, allowing more young athletes from various provinces to participate, develop their skills, and gain exposure.
