Manila: The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) reported that debris from a Chinese rocket launched on Friday might have landed 23 nautical miles from Puerto Princesa and 21 nautical miles from Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park. The agency cautioned that the debris could drift in the vicinity and potentially wash up on nearby shores.

According to Philippines News Agency, PhilSA advised the public against retrieving or approaching these materials due to the potential presence of toxic substances such as rocket fuel. While the debris is not anticipated to impact land features or inhabited areas, it poses a risk to ships, aircraft, fishing boats, and other vessels navigating the drop zone.

PhilSA communicated the specifics of the drop zone to relevant authorities before the launch. The information was also released through a notice to airmen to alert them of aerospace flight activity in the area.

The Long March 12 rocket was launched from the Hainan International Commercial Launch Center in Wenchang, Hainan, at approximately 7 a.m. Philippine Standard Time, as stated by PhilSA.
