PLDT Global Partners with Japan’s BBIX to Enhance Global Connectivity

Manila: Customers of PLDT Global Corporation may now access services of Japan's major internet exchange (IX) provider, BBIX Inc., after the companies decided to partner to provide transformative remote peering services. PLDT Global, the international arm of publicly-listed PLDT Group, in a press release on Wednesday, said the tie-up will allow its customers 'to access BBIX's services without the need for physical presence in key markets globally.'

According to Philippines News Agency, the partnership is set to deliver greater flexibility, scalability, and cost efficiency to enterprises seeking to expand in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. PLDT Global President and chief executive officer Albert Villa-Real stated that this collaboration marks another milestone in their commitment to strengthening the Philippines' role as a digital hub in Asia. By utilizing BBIX's carrier-neutral Internet Exchange, they aim to enable businesses to connect faster, more reliably, and more securely to the global digital economy.

Roderick Santiago, PLDT and Smart first vice president and head of network strategy, emphasized that the partnership underscores the PLDT Group's continued investment in world-class digital infrastructure. It aligns with their vision to position the Philippines as a leader in connectivity at home and a vital gateway for global digital traffic across Asia and beyond.

BBIX president and CEO Hideyuki Sasaki expressed confidence that PLDT's powerful network infrastructure and PLDT Global's international presence will bring immense value to their IX platform. He added that together, they will meet the rising demand for high-speed, low-latency connectivity and help enterprises thrive in the rapidly evolving digital economy.
