Pasig City: Savi Davison earned the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Press Corps Player of the Week for the period March 4 to March 6 -- her second award in the All-Filipino Conference.

According to Philippines News Agency, her brilliant performance helped the PLDT High Speed Hitters secure a quarterfinal slot. She received recognition from reporters across print and online publications, surpassing her teammates Kim Fajardo, as well as Akari's Ivy Lacsina, Chery Tiggo's Cess Robles, and Cignal's Vanie Gandler in the voting process.

The Filipino-Canadian athlete delivered 34 points in PLDT's 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 26-24 victory over ZUS Coffee in their qualifying round match held Tuesday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Davison expressed that her main aim is to secure PLDT's first title. 'I think it was just a mentality shift from preliminaries to . the playoff round. Our coach told [the] team earlier that it's a long road from here [leading to the] championship. So, it's best for our team to set a standard. Hopefully, we move all the way up from here,' she stated in a news release on Saturday.

'I want a championship. I wanna be . at that really top spot at the end of the season. I guess I'm really preparing for that, so hopefully I'll just keep performing until we get there and when that time comes.'

The High Speed Hitters are set to face the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the best-of-three series quarterfinals. They anticipate a challenging match against the Sisi Rondina-led squad, which remains unbeaten this year.

'I think the top thing that comes to my mind right now is controlling our side of the net and make sure that [Rondina] does not score as much as she typically does,' Davison remarked.

'I think with that [thinking] we were able to control our side a little bit more [against ZUS Coffee]. So, that might be something we prioritize [opposite the Titans], but again they have other people that work, and we try to look at and take care of as well. Hopefully, it's gonna be a good game,' she added.
