Manila: Community-acquired pneumonia III has emerged as the medical condition with the most significant financial support from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) during the first half of 2026, with healthcare claim payments reaching PHP12.76 billion.
According to Philippines News Agency, PhilHealth announced on Thursday that it had disbursed a total of PHP210.09 billion in healthcare claim payments from January to June. These funds have assisted millions of Filipinos in managing their medical expenses during this period.
In a public advisory, the state health insurer reported that cerebral infarction, also known as stroke, was the second highest in claims with PHP2.76 billion, followed by acute gastroenteritis with PHP1.96 billion. Other conditions with notable payouts included dengue with warning signs at PHP1.78 billion and urinary tract infections at PHP1.60 billion.
Further, stage 2 hypertension accounted for PHP1.10 billion, while stage 5 chronic kidney disease received PHP1.05 billion. Bronchial asthma claims were at PHP978.18 million, malignant hypertension at PHP975.20 million, and other cases of acute gastritis at PHP910.34 million.
PhilHealth has urged its members to seek timely medical attention, reassuring the public that healthcare coverage for major diseases is accessible nationwide.
