PNP Anti-Drug Group Seizes PHP33 Million in Narcotics, Arrests 59 in May

Manila: The Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) has confiscated over PHP33 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 59 drug personalities in May. The operation marks a significant achievement in the ongoing battle against narcotics in the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, PDEG acting chief Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy reported that the seized contraband included 2.59 kg of shabu, 3 kg of dried marijuana leaves, and 75,000 pieces of marijuana plants. The total estimated standard drug price of these items is PHP33.029 million, which represents a major blow to drug syndicates operating in the country.

The arrests made include 41 high-value individuals (HVIs), 11 street-level individuals (SLIs), as well as five other wanted persons (OWPs) and two most wanted persons (MWPs). These apprehensions highlight the precision intelligence work and strengthened inter-agency coordination of the PNP DEG.

Brig. Gen. Capoy stated that these results stemmed from 52 operations conducted last month. These operations comprised 40 buy-bust operations, three search warrant implementations, two marijuana eradications, and seven services of warrant of arrests. He emphasized that these efforts reflect the unit's relentless commitment to combating the country's drug menace.

Capoy further remarked on the dedication, sacrifice, and strategic operations planning of their operatives, asserting their continued intensification of anti-drug initiatives to ensure a safer and drug-free Philippines.
