Bocaue: Philippine National Police (PNP) acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., alongside Bulacan provincial government officials, inspected firecracker stalls in Bocaue town as part of an intensified campaign against illegal firecrackers.

According to Philippines News Agency, the inspection aimed to ensure peace, order, and public safety by reducing risks associated with firecracker incidents. Nartatez, joined by Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando, Vice Governor Alex Castro, and Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 (Central Luzon) chief Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Pe±ones Jr., emphasized the shared responsibility of preventing accidents. He highlighted the cooperation between the PNP, local officials, stakeholders, and manufacturers in avoiding disasters during the holiday season.

The inspection focused on verifying compliance with safety standards and licensing requirements, ensuring proper display and storage of pyrotechnic products in line with existing laws. Nartatez assured the public that the PNP's Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) is actively enforcing regulatory systems governing firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.

Nartatez mentioned that the FEO has identified several illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, including Watusi, Pop-pop, Piccolo, and others. Additionally, various unlabeled and oversized products, as well as imported finished products, are classified as illegal.

Governor Fernando expressed gratitude for Nartatez's visit and inspection, emphasizing the police's commitment to a safe holiday celebration. He noted the importance of strengthening small businesses, which are vital to Bulacan's fireworks industry, and mentioned ongoing support for these enterprises.
