Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its presence to maintain peace and security ahead of the large-scale anti-corruption rallies scheduled for Nov. 30, Malaca±ang said on Friday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated in a press briefing that this is the third rally of its kind, and the PNP is fully prepared to handle it. Castro emphasized that approximately 15,097 police personnel would be deployed, anticipating more than 50,000 participants to join the protest action.
She further mentioned that the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is already on full alert. "The NCRPO is on full alert to ensure maximum police presence and proper deployment," Castro said.
The November 30 demonstrations are part of a series of anti-corruption protests held this year, following earlier rallies joined by participants from various sectors, including youth groups, labor unions, and civil society organizations. Organizers have been calling for greater transparency, accountability in government transactions, and action on allegations of misuse of public funds.
