PNP Task Force Identifies Persons of Interest in House Official’s Slaying

Quezon City: A special task force of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has identified persons of interest behind the killing of a 63-year-old official of the House of Representatives. PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III announced that the Special Investigation Task Force (SITG) has been established to investigate the case of the House employee, who was shot while attending his daughter's birthday celebration in Commonwealth, Quezon City on Sunday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Gen. Torre stated in a media interview on Tuesday, "May mga persons of interest tayo (We have already persons of interest). The investigation is still ongoing, manhunt operation is still ongoing and we hope to resolve this case as soon as possible." However, Torre withheld further details regarding the investigation.

Based on the police report, two unidentified gunmen infiltrated the exclusive venue and shot the victim in the head at close range. The suspects fled on a motorcycle, firing shots at the subdivision's guardhouse before making their escape. The police indicated that the crime seemed to have been meticulously planned.

The victim was immediately taken to a hospital but was later declared dead by the attending physician.
