Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has placed its intelligence and tracker teams on standby as it closely monitors developments after the government submitted a request for an Interpol Red Notice against former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque. Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. directed the teams to maintain continuous communication with Interpol's National Central Bureau (NCB) in Manila.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PNP's role is to coordinate closely with Interpol's National Central Bureau. Nartatez emphasized the PNP's readiness to act as the primary enforcement arm if the notice is approved. "Kami ang magiging primary enforcement arm kung sakaling ma-approve ang notice (We will be the primary enforcement arm if the notice is approved)," Nartatez stated in a recent announcement.

The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) earlier revealed that the Philippine government has requested Interpol to issue a Red Notice against Roque. He is facing charges of inciting to sedition and human trafficking, among others. A Red Notice serves as an alert issued by Interpol to its member countries, requesting the location and provisional arrest of a person wanted for prosecution or to serve a sentence, based on a valid national arrest warrant.

Nartatez assured that once a Red Notice is approved, all ground units will be ready to act immediately, reinforcing the PNP's commitment to full compliance with legal procedures and respect for human rights.
