Legazpi: The Philippine National Railways (PNR) resumed its Legazpi-Naga operations on Wednesday following a three-month suspension of its passenger service.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Legazpi-Naga route had been previously halted due to damage sustained by its train sets from weather disturbances in 2024. In a statement, PNR General Manager Deovanni Miranda announced that two trips would currently operate while repairs on other train sets are ongoing. These repairs aim to restore the previous schedule for the Albay to Camarines Sur trips, which included morning, noon, and afternoon departures.

Miranda expressed gratitude to the Bicolanos for their warm welcome as the PNR service resumes between Legazpi and Naga. He stated that passengers could expect additional trips on this route in the coming months as the PNR continues to provide faster, safer, and more affordable public transportation. The resumption of the route offers passengers a quicker and more cost-effective means of transportation.

The journey between Legazpi and Naga takes approximately 3 hours and 14 minutes, covering a distance of 100 km. The first trip departed from Legazpi Station at 4:49 a.m. with 99 passengers and will return later from Naga to Legazpi at 5 p.m. The PNR train stops at stations in Legazpi, Daraga, Travesia, Ligao, Polangui, Iriga, Pili, and Naga, with flag stops at Kapantawan, Washington Drive, Bagtang, Oas, Matacon, Bato, Lourdes (Old), and Baao.

Regular fares for the Naga-Legazpi trip range from PHP20 to PHP155. Discounts are available for students, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and senior citizens who present valid identification, with fares ranging from PHP12 to PHP124. Meanwhile, train services on the Naga-Sipocot route continued to operate smoothly and were not discontinued.

As operations resumed, Miranda urged the public to adhere to the PNR's strict security measures to ensure safe and smooth service in the region.
