Dumaguete city: Police are filing a criminal complaint against a suspect who was identified in the killing of an American national and his Filipina wife in their home in Barangay Bajumpandan here last week, an official said Wednesday. Capt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, told the Philippine News Agency that the couple's household helper positively identified the suspect from the police rogue's gallery.

According to Philippines News Agency, the helper positively identified the individual, through photos and descriptions in the rogue's gallery, as the same person who allegedly pointed a gun at her and tied her up before the couple was fatally shot inside the main house. Polinar declined to provide further details about the suspect, who remains at large. Police are also looking into the possible involvement of a second suspect.

He said the latest development was relayed to the family of Mark Duell, 72, and Elisea Duell, 71, who were buried at a cemetery here Wednesday. Police are set to file a complaint of robbery with homicide against the identified suspect before the city prosecutor's office on Thursday.

Polinar said the Special Investigation Task Force Duell will continue its probe until the arrest of the suspect or suspects. The Duell couple was shot point-blank inside their home in Barangay Bajumpandan last week in an incident that police initially described as a possible robbery.
