Poll Watchdog Group Urges Filipinos to Register, Beat Deadline

Manila: A Church-based poll watchdog group urged Filipinos who are not yet registered voters to sign up, two days before the deadline set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

According to Philippines News Agency, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) issued a reminder on social media Saturday, encouraging those who have yet to register for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), scheduled for November 2, to visit their local Comelec office and complete their registration. The group emphasized the importance of participation with a compelling message: 'Make your vote count! Register now!' They noted that the registration period will conclude on May 18, 2026, at 5 p.m.

The PPCRV highlighted the requirement for registrants to bring a valid government-issued ID, including student IDs, to facilitate the process. This effort aims to include both regular voters, aged 18 and above, and youth voters, aged 15 to 17.

The latest data from Comelec indicates that 4,740,551 applications for voter registration have been received nationwide from the start of the registration period on October 20, 2025, to May 9 of this year. Apart from new voter registrations, Comelec is also processing applications for transfers, status changes, corrections of entries, and reactivations.
