He highlighted the challenges posed by current global diplomatic practices.

According to Philippines News Agency, the American pontiff emphasized the weakness of multilateralism at the international level. He warned that a diplomacy focused on dialogue and consensus is being overshadowed by approaches driven by force and alliances. The Pope noted that "war is back in fashion and war fervor is rampant," signaling a shift from post-World War II principles of peaceful coexistence and respect for national borders.

Pope Leo XIV further remarked that the established principle prohibiting the use of force to violate borders has been compromised. He stated that peace is increasingly being pursued through military means, rather than being valued as a fundamental good. This shift, he warned, seriously undermines the rule of law, which is essential for peaceful civil coexistence.
