Sibalom: Around 2,000 additional households and establishments in the Municipality of Sibalom could benefit from the new PHP5.4 million pumping station being constructed by the Sibalom Local Water District. Water district general manager Engineer Jonathan De Gracia, in an interview Friday, said that they are about to complete the construction of their 6th pumping station in District 4, Sibalom.
According to Philippines News Agency, De Gracia expressed optimism that the new pumping station will be operational by next month, as the installation of pipelines is nearing completion. Currently, the Sibalom Local Water District serves approximately 4,205 households and establishments across 17 barangays in the municipality.
With the addition of the new pumping station, the Sibalom Local Water District aims to supply at least 23 cubic meters of potable water monthly to every household and establishment in areas without an existing water connection. The demand for water has been increasing, partly due to the influx of students at the University of Antique (UA) Main Campus in Sibalom, who reside in dormitories and apartments.
De Gracia emphasized the importance of providing clean and safe water, particularly during the rainy season, and assured that the water district is employing chlorination to achieve this goal.
