Manila: A power maintenance is scheduled at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 from 10 p.m. on Tuesday to 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the operator New NAIA Infra, Corp. (NNIC) stated in an advisory that the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to keep NAIA safe, reliable, and operating at its best. Meralco Energy, Inc.'s maintenance work will necessitate a temporary power interruption during this period.
Although backup generators are planned to support critical systems, brief disruptions are expected in elevators, escalators, baggage handling systems, air conditioning, lighting, and electrical outlets. The San Miguel Corp.-led consortium assured that they will do their best to minimize any inconvenience to passengers and staff.
Power maintenance was also conducted at Terminal 3 on May 29, which resulted in the unavailability of some boarding bridges for at least four hours. In September 2022, a power outage at Terminal 3 delayed at least 31 flights, leading to disrupted operations, manual check-ins and baggage loading, and longer processing times at immigration counters. More recently, in June 2023, another power interruption caused the cancellation of seven flights and resulted in long queues at immigration.
