Manila: Terra Solar Philippines, Inc. (TSPI) has awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the east-side development of the MTerra Solar Project to Power Construction Corp. of China Ltd. (PowerChina). In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGEN) announced that PowerChina and its affiliates will manage various aspects of the project, including procurement, design, engineering, permitting, manufacturing, testing, logistics, and on-site material delivery. According to Philippines News Agency, TSPI's collaboration with PowerChina highlights the company's dedication to efficiently and safely delivering the world's largest integrated solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery facility. MGEN president and CEO Manny Rubio expressed confidence in PowerChina's expertise and commitment, stating, "We sign this EPC agreement with Power China recognizing their expertise, exceptional track record, and unwavering commitment to excellence - we know that th ey will help us realize our bold ambition." The EPC contract awarded to PowerChina encompasses the east section of the MTerra Solar project, which spans approximately 1,505 hectares across three barangays in Nueva Ecija: Brgy. Makabaklay in Gapan, Brgy. Pias in General Tinio, and Brgy. Callos in Peñaranda. This section will contribute 1,050 megawatt peak (MWp) to the project's total capacity. Dennis Jordan, TSPI president and executive director, emphasized the significance of the MTerra Solar project in promoting sustainable energy in the Philippines. "MTerra Solar serves as our bold step towards ensuring a sustainable energy future for the Philippines - and with Power China as our partner, we are well on our way to achieving our vision of a cleaner energy future for the Philippines," he stated. The MTerra Solar Project, which is currently the world's largest single-site solar power project with an integrated battery facility, was recently inaugurated by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. alongside Meralco chairperson and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan. The solar power plant has a capacity of 3,500 MWp and a 4,500 MW hour battery energy storage system.
