Manila: An election watchdog group on Wednesday urged the people to monitor the inaugural Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Parliamentary Elections (BPE) on Sept. 14.

According to Philippines News Agency, Arwind Serrano, national coordinator of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), emphasized the importance of vigilance in a Radyo Pilipinas interview. "We must remain vigilant and watchful; let us pray that the election this Monday proceeds smoothly and peacefully," Serrano stated. He highlighted the significance of this election for the BARMM and other parts of the country, urging citizens to prepare, pray, and observe for a smooth electoral process.

Serrano also reported that the group launched its command center in Makati City on Tuesday to monitor and ensure the transparency of the electoral process. The command center is set to receive election returns through authorized couriers, which will then be compared with the transmitted results to verify their accuracy. This measure is intended to uphold the integrity of the election results.

As of Sept. 8, a total of 3,000 volunteers are set to serve in the BARMM elections. Additionally, 1,186 voters' assistance desks have been established in polling centers and precincts to aid voters. The elections will determine 80 parliamentary seats, with 40 seats allocated to Regional Parliamentary Political Party (RPPP) Representatives and the remaining 40 seats divided between 32 elected Parliamentary District Representatives and eight Parliamentary Sectoral Representatives.

Based on data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Bangsamoro region has 2,393,202 registered voters, underscoring the scale and significance of this electoral process in shaping the future governance of the region.
