Manila: Clark Freeport Zone Government-owned and controlled corporations Philippine Pharma Procurement, Inc. (PPPI) and Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) are looking for investors for their joint project, a pharmaceutical logistics and distribution center in the Clark Freeport Zone.
According to Philippines News Agency, PPPI President Maria Bianca Kim Lokin announced that the development of the pharmaceutical hub will require an initial investment of approximately PHP2 billion. She emphasized the project's scale, stating, "PPPI Pharma Hub will need an initial investment of about USD35.25 million (PHP2 billion) for development. Total area being earmarked is 15 hectares, with an initial development for five to 10 hectares." Lokin also mentioned that they will explore various investment options, including joint ventures and public-private partnerships.
On Monday, PPPI and CIAC signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop the pharmaceutical logistics hub within the Clark Aviation Capital. Under this MOU, CIAC will provide the land for the project, while PPPI will identify operational requirements such as warehousing, cold chain needs, and air freight handling capabilities essential for the proposed logistics and distribution hub.
CIAC President Jojit Alcazar stated that the collaboration with the country's sole government-run pharmaceutical company enhances CIAC's position as the premier global civil aviation logistics hub of the Philippines. He highlighted that Clark hosts global cargo leaders like FedEX, UPS, and DHL, making it an ideal location for the project. Alcazar also noted that the initiative aligns with the Marcos administration's agenda to provide Filipinos with affordable and accessible healthcare.
