PRO-5 to Deploy 7,000 Police and Force Multipliers for Safe School Opening

Bicol: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) is set to deploy 7,123 police personnel and force multipliers to safeguard learners and teachers as the new school year commences on June 8. This deployment covers 4,166 public and private schools across the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda emphasized the importance of securing students' safety in alignment with the Philippine National Police's commitment to fostering secure learning environments. The deployment plan includes 2,389 police officers and is bolstered by 667 personnel from partner agencies, such as the Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Additional security will be provided by 4,067 force multipliers from local government units, barangay peacekeeping groups, and community-based organizations. To enhance on-site safety, 286 police assistance desks will be established at school premises and nearby areas, staffed by 809 trained officers to handle emergencies and ensure the protection of students, teachers, and school staff.

PRO-5 plans to combat criminal activities, including theft and bullying, by intensifying patrols in school zones, transport routes, and surrounding areas. Police presence will be heightened at terminals and pedestrian crossings to facilitate the safe movement of students.

The sustained police operations and intelligence-driven law enforcement will continue throughout the school year to uphold peace and order in school communities. Brig. Gen. Miranda reiterated the goal of ensuring a secure environment for all students, teachers, and parents as the academic year begins.
