Makati city: Iloilo's provincial government has entered into a partnership with the private sector to establish dialysis centers in district and provincial hospitals, aiming to improve access to hemodialysis services for Ilonggo patients. This initiative was formalized on Tuesday with a signing ceremony held at the Healthway Town Hall.
According to Philippines News Agency, the agreement involves a collaboration with AC Health and Healthway Medical Network. Under this partnership, 12 district hospitals and the provincial hospital will be equipped with modern dialysis facilities, each beginning with eight dialysis stations compliant with Department of Health standards.
The ceremony saw participation from key figures such as Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., AC Health president and CEO Paolo Borromeo, and Healthway Medical Network president and CEO Jaime Ysmael. Governor Defensor emphasized the importance of this partnership in ensuring essential healthcare reaches all Ilonggos, particularly those in need of dialysis services.
The agreement outlines that the provincial government will provide space for the centers, while AC Health/PMVI will be responsible for equipping, managing, and operating these facilities. Current data suggests that over 50,000 residents need hemodialysis, yet most existing centers are concentrated in Iloilo City.
Dr. Patricia Debuque from the provincial government highlighted that district hospitals are often the first point of care for many families. The partnership aims to enhance their capability to support patients with chronic kidney diseases and promote overall health in Iloilo.
Patients will benefit from standardized clinical protocols, increased capacity, and reduced treatment costs, thanks to support from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and provincial medical assistance programs. Additionally, patients will gain access to advanced diagnostics, specialized care, and potential pathways for kidney transplants.
Healthway Medical Network's CEO Jaime Ysmael committed to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency in operating the dialysis centers, ensuring they are sustainable and well-managed.
