Iloilo: The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported that it has registered 6,597 senior citizens in Iloilo through its house-to-house registration activities since October 1 until the middle of December this year. "PSA Iloilo is continuously implementing National ID mobile house-to-house registration activities across Iloilo to ensure that senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) who have difficulty visiting fixed registration centers are not left behind," Iloilo Supervising Statistical Specialist Jerry Dolutan said in an interview on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dolutan stated they are closely coordinating with local government units and other stakeholders to reach out to more sectors, particularly the elderly and PWDs, and inform them about the benefits of the National ID system. PSA Iloilo has deployed six teams for mobile registration and maintains two teams at the registration centers located at its office and at SM City Iloilo.

"Our mobile registration, which also includes the house-to-house registration, is ongoing until December 22. However, our registration centers at the PSA Office and SM City Iloilo will continue until December 29," Dolutan added. He mentioned that they aim to achieve at least 280 registrations daily.

Among those registered through the house-to-house campaign was a 110-year-old resident of San Rafael town. A team visited Jovita Aranga at her residence in Barangay Ilongbukid in San Rafael town on December 12. "Having lived through generations marked by typewritten records and handwritten identification, Aranga's registration symbolizes the transition to a secure, digital, and unified National ID System," Dolutan remarked.
