PSA-NIR Cites Strong Ties with LGUs in Enhanced Civil Registration

Pampanga: The Philippine Statistics Authority-Negros Island Region (PSA-NIR) on Friday underscored its strong partnership with local government units (LGUs) in delivering civil registration programs, activities, and services as six local civil registry offices (LCROs) in the region received awards during the 4th National Convention on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) held in Pampanga.

According to Philippines News Agency, these awards signify the successful collaboration between the PSA and the LCROs, marking a significant stride towards efficient and inclusive civil registration. PSA-NIR Interim Director John Campomanes emphasized the importance of these partnerships in a news release on Friday, stating they are crucial in ensuring every citizen is accounted for through improved civil registration systems.

Sibulan, Negros Oriental was recognized as the Most Innovative LCRO in the region for its initiative titled 'Embracing Digitalization: Enhancing Civil Registry Services in Sibulan, Negros Oriental through Excel Automation.' This innovation reflects the region's commitment to leveraging technology for better service delivery.

Five LCROs from the Negros Island Region (NIR) were also among the top 10 Outstanding LCROs for 2024, determined by the number of civil registry documents (CRDs) registered and submitted to the Civil Registration System. Canlaon City in Negros Oriental took the first place in the medium category (1,000 to 1,999 CRDs), while Siquijor, Siquijor came in seventh. In the large category (2,000 to 3,999 CRDs), Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental led the rankings.

Bayawan City, Negros Oriental secured the third spot in the extra-large category (4,000 to 9,999 CRDs), and Sagay City, Negros Occidental ranked ninth. Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental was distinguished as the top performer for the super extra-large category, for registering 10,000 or more CRDs, marking its second consecutive win.

Additionally, three LCROs in Negros Oriental-Santa Catalina, Canlaon City, and Bayawan City-along with Siquijor, Siquijor, were honored with the prestigious 2024 Circle of Excellence Award. This award is reserved for offices that have consistently ranked among the top 10 Outstanding LCROs for five consecutive years.

The outstanding LCRO award is designed to promote efficiency and innovation within LCROs, acknowledge their support for CRVS programs, enhance appreciation for vital statistics data, foster cooperation, and align incentives with performance to ensure timely and accurate civil registration services.
