Iloilo: The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has successfully registered 2,240,752 Iloilo residents under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as of June 26, according to the Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office (IPSO).
According to Philippines News Agency, IPSO officer-in-charge Jerry Dolutan highlighted that this number represents approximately 90 percent of the 2.5 million residents based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing. "We still have more than 250,000 individuals, whom we target to register," Dolutan stated, pointing out that these individuals include those undecided about registration, residents in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs), bedridden individuals, or overseas Filipino workers.
The national ID system is considered a crucial tool as it offers a secure and efficient method for verifying identities. Dolutan emphasized its importance by stating it is "our gateway to avail of different services." The national ID not only facilitates faster and more reliable access to services but also enhances the interaction with both government and private sectors.
Registration continues at the PSA Iloilo Provincial Office, located on Iznart Street, from Monday to Saturday, as well as at SM City Iloilo for walk-in clients. To further expand registration efforts, the PSA plans to deploy two mobile teams in the third quarter of 2025. These teams will cater to registration requests from local government units through their civil registrar.
