PSA Reports Over 13,600 Construction Activities in April

Manila: The number of construction activities in the country reached 13,677 in April, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported. Preliminary data released Friday showed that the construction activities covered by approved building permits involved a total floor area of 2.76 million square meters and had a total value of PHP47.42 billion.

According to Philippines News Agency, this figure excludes alteration and repair, other non-residential constructions such as facades, helipads, niches, water tanks, and other constructions like demolitions, street furniture, landscaping, and signboards, due to the lack of reported floor area for these types of constructions. Meanwhile, non-residential constructions totaled 2,973, with commercial buildings comprising the majority of these projects. Additions, which refer to new construction that increases the height or area of an existing building, accounted for 3.7 percent of total construction activities. Alteration and repair works contributed 7.7 percent, while other constructions comprised 3.8 percent.

The PSA noted that the average construction cost in April stood at PHP15,497.47 per square meter, representing a 48.5 percent increase from the PHP10,437.43 per square meter recorded in April 2025.
